Slowly getting better
Aug. 1st, 2007 10:39 amWhen I injured myself running a race in May, I expected to be out for a few weeks. I wasn't expecting the reality: I had a stress fracture in my pelvis which takes 10 to 12 weeks to heal. Ever since, I've been limping around on crutches (no fun if you live in a fifth-floor walk-up.)
Yesterday, I finally got the okay from my doctor to wean myself off my crutches and start walking again, starting with small distances. I should be able to start gentle jogging in 3-4 weeks and be back to running in two months or so.
This hasn't been fun but I'm really glad things are getting back to normal. On a positive note, this kind of injury heals perfectly, i.e. there's no scarring like you'd have with muscle damage.
