Slowly getting better

When I injured myself running a race in May, I expected to be out for a few weeks. I wasn't expecting the reality: I had a stress fracture in my pelvis which takes 10 to 12 weeks to heal. Ever since, I've been limping around on crutches (no fun if you live in a fifth-floor walk-up.)

Yesterday, I finally got the okay from my doctor to wean myself off my crutches and start walking again, starting with small distances. I should be able to start gentle jogging in 3-4 weeks and be back to running in two months or so.

This hasn't been fun but I'm really glad things are getting back to normal. On a positive note, this kind of injury heals perfectly, i.e. there's no scarring like you'd have with muscle damage.

Loud fun tonight

Heidi got us tickets to see the Police tonight. It's the current tour's first night at Madison Square Gardens, so this ought to be good. The tickets were expensive, but as she said, she's waited 24 years to see them live, so we might as well splurge.

I'm not really a Police fan, but I am looking forward to tonight's performance. Now if only Zeppelin were to tour again (with Jason Bonham or a different drummer), not *that* would be a concert I'd be willing to buy expensive tickets for...
