Off for a nice trip
Sep. 1st, 2007 01:00 pmMy work is sending me to Hong Kong for two weeks, to teach my colleagues there how to support all the fun software I have been writing for the last three years. A video link to Tokyo will clue in the team there as well, so sadly there's no second leg to the trip.
But even so - OMFG! - I'm flying to the other side of the world, all expenses paid, to talk about what I love and do for a living. I'll have to do my regular job as well (at least the e-mail and crash support part), but there ought to be plenty of time for sightseeing and shopping.
The company is putting me up in the Mandarin Oriental, and that promises to be excellent ("best hotel in Asia"). They have a big spa so with some luck I can continue the running recovery in the early or late hours. And their restaurant prides themselves that they'll make you any dish that has been on their menu in the last thirty years. Awesome.
So now I'm waiting to board for a 16-hour flight. That part will probably not be the highlight of the trip. I have some of Heidi's sleeping pills to make sure I don't die of boredom.
