The contract is signed...
Jan. 19th, 2007 03:45 pmToday I write the biggest check in my life so far... a deposit on our new apartment. I'll have to write an even larger check in 6 weeks or so at the closing. Ouch - no beer money for the next year or so...
This is a New York co-op, so in addition to the mortgage (pre-approved) we'll have to submit a board package. Letters of reference from work, friends, banks, our current landlord, plus financial details going back two years, what clubs/fraternities/associations we belong to, etc - plus eight copies of everything. That'll take a while to put together!
The place is great, though - 9 foot ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, two bathrooms, a huge kitchen by New York standards, and enough place for bookshelves that I ought to be able to single-shelve for at least 3 weeks.
( Pictures after the cut. )
